STEVE.

^{steve wouldn’t describe himself as ‘ WRACKED WITH GUILT ’ over the circumstances that befell rebecca barnes —— it was not far off, but still, not yet there. becca had, like himself and bucky, been granted a second shot at life ; not without the baggage from the one previous, but a. a SECOND SHOT. and, while he was trapped under ice, she had become a grown woman. she could make decisions for herself, and it was not steve’s role to protect her from herself. he didn’t need to, anyways. “ i need some hair dye if you see any. any DARK BROWN SHADE, the roots at coming in. ”}
^{if steve hadn’t long-familiarized himself with the willful blindness of others, he’d be surprised by the ease in which he was able to blend into the crowd, a bushy beard, brown dye and nondescript clothes causing his 6′2″ frame to fade into the background like he was scrawny again. of course, steve’s presence did not demand attention. captain america’s did, but he wasn’t — that — any more. “ i can’t think of anything else, though. have we got enough food for the next couple days? don’t want to make too many trips, may as well do it all at once. actually, do you want me to come with you? just in case it gets rough, or something — it’s late, after all. ”}

^{rebecca MADE A QUICK NOTE on the small list that her brother had given her. glancing it over she shook her head. she had planned on going out later in the week to get them some more food but it made more sense if she just got the food now instead of waiting until they had nothing left to eat.} ^{tucking the list into her pocket, she offered steve a warm smile. she was thankful for the second chance that she had been given and she planned on living her new life to the fullest.}

^{unfortunately, the world was a lot less safe than it was when she was younger ( not that it was any better then ) so she thought IT WAS A GOOD IDEA if steve went with her. plus, she would need help getting the extra grocery items. she wouldn’t be able to carry all those bags by herself.}

^{“ if you would like to come with me that’d be great. I know that if I pick up any food I’ll need some help carrying the extra bags up here. what time did you want to leave? ”}
