BUCKY.

Their father would easily catch Bucky around the middle if he tried to escape from having his cuts cleaned. Something no one could do now–save a select number of the Avengers–and definitely not his sister. But he had faint memories of those strong arms catching him, pulling him close, murmured words. ‘I’ll be quick, Buckaroo’. And he always was. And after he’d ruffle his son’s hair, sending him off with a smile. He missed both of their parents, sometimes so much his heart felt like it would burst. It was what he was thinking about while she covered his wound with the bandage.

“After aliens and robots, giant animals are not that far fetched. There’s a lotta stuff that doesn’t get on national TV,” he said, pulling a face. If they had to deal with more teenagers telling them they should be doing more when they didn’t even know the half of it.

He pulled the t-shirt on easily, careful as he slipped it over the bandages. It was a little roomy, but that was nice–unlike Steve, Bucky liked to be able to breathe in his clothing. No matter how much he pestered his best friend about trying bigger sizes, the blond never listened, and Bucky had mostly given up, switching to meaningful glances with Sam.

His whole face brightened at her suggestion, and he was nodding enthusiastically before he could stop himself.

“I’d like nothing better,” he told her sincerely, smile all teeth. “I’ve been braggin’ about my baby sister; it’d be nice to have some idea of what you’re doing.”

she FOUND HERSELF SMILING as he smiled and leaning over, she wrapped her arms around him tightly, careful of his wounds. it was so nice to have her brother back in her life. things had been hard without him and she wasn’t exactly sure how she managed to do it all. letting go, she stood up and then quickly made her way to her room where she grabbed her school bag that was currently stuffed with textbooks, papers and old exams from the previous semester. she had yet to buy her new textbooks so nothing had been cleaned out.

grabbing the bag and one of her blankets, she made her way back towards the living room where she put the bag down on the floor. taking the blanket, she covered her brother up. he took care of her as a child and now it was her turn to return the favor. sitting down herself, she picked up the bag and began to pull VARIOUS PAPERS AND EXAMS out.

“ this is the stuff I got back after finals week. our professors said we could come back a few                 days later and pick it all up so I did. the classes themselves are pretty challenging so                           sometimes I stay up late to get in as much studying as I can. it all works out though, see?

picking up one of the exams, she held it out for him to look at. it had been one of her law exams and she aced it. in fact, she received the highest grade in her entire class. she was proud of that grade and she had a feeling that if their parents were still alive that the exam would be hanging on their fridge or something. letting out a sigh, she rested her head against his shoulder. she wished that he could just live closer to her. that way she could see HIM MORE OFTEN THAN SHE DID. maybe she could look into schools closer to the avengers headquarters?
