BUCKY.
“You shouldn’t have to,” he replied softly, head still bowed. He had promised to take care of them, and he didn’t want to see them have to get jobs just because he couldn’t do it. He’d hate to see his sisters run ragged to try and help pay the bills, keep the heat on, keep the pantry stocked. He wanted them to go to school, be able to rest without worrying about money; even if it may seem inevitable.
He felt her wrap his arms around her and turned so he could hold her in return, his grip tight.
“’M sorry for snappin’ at you,” Bucky mumbled, a bubble of shame washing over him, filling him up. He could practically feel their parents stern glares on his back for doing it. They’d raised him better than that, and he was glad the other girls were out so they couldn’t hear.
He pulled back, running a hand through the hair that had flopped forward, pushing it back once more. “Look, I’ll take some extra shifts if I can. Look for another job to take on. People always need an extra hand, right?”
rebecca continued to rub her brothers back gently, hoping that it was HELPING A BIT. she hated seeing him so upset and she hated to see him beating himself up over the situation. she loved her brother more than anything in the world. he was ( all with their sisters ) all they had left and she wanted to help out in anyway that she possibly could. she didn’t mind missing some school so that she could work instead. if she worked that meant they were bringing in more money which meant they could have a bit more food on the table. she shook her head as he pulled away.
“ there is no need to apologize buck. I know how stressful things are right now and I shouldn’t have upset you. I should be the one apologizing to you. I would just like to help in any way that I possibly can. you shouldn’t have to be the only one working. I can get some kind of job and work a few shifts a week. I really don’t want you taking on another job. YOU’RE TIRED AS IT IS buck, please. let me try and find something. ”
